Serves: 6
crockpot
6 hrs
2-3 lbs Ground Beef (6 burger patties)
Salt, Pepper and Garlic Powder
1 can Campbells French Onion Soup
2 Large Onions ( halved then sliced)
6 Hamburger Buns
Butter
6 Provolone Cheese Slices
  • This recipe is adapted from a cookbook I purchased from a thrift store. Cookbook: Campbells Classic Recipes
  • Burger Prep:

  • Form 6 burger patties, Season both sides with salt, pepper and garlic powder or you favorite burger seasoning. In a pan over med-high heat sear the burgers for a couple minutes on both sides. You are not cooking them through just locking in the seasoning and rendering some of the fat off the burger patties before adding them into your crockpot.
  • Crockpot Instructions:

  • Add about a fourth of your French onion soup into the bottom of your crockpot. Just coating the bottom. Add in your burger patties and top with the rest of the soup. Top everything with your sliced onion. Cook on low for 6 hours. I go back and check on them every couple of hours flipping the burgers and moving the onions in the juices. This is not necessary, but I do think it helps with the over all cook of the burgers.
  • Ready to serve:

  • The best way to serve these burgers is on buttered toasted buns. I add some butter to the top and bottom bun place them in the oven at 400 till golden and toasted to perfection! Place your burger on your bottom bun, add some of those cooked onions. Top with a slice of provolone cheese, top with your top bun and enjoy!
